Website is live and ready to take orders

brittonart · June 1, 2022 · Leave a Comment

Well, the day is finally here!

The website is live, the socials are queued up, and the artist in me is as excited as ever to be presenting this to you. It has been a journey, and I’m sure it will continue to be an eye-opening experience. Getting into the NFT space is truly weird and wonderful at the same time.

No matter what may come, I’m glad you are here. If you are interested in abstract art and undiscovered artists, then you’re in the right place. I’m a total freshman in this space but willing to learn and grow.

So, please, have a look around the website! Let me know what you like and don’t like about it. If you know someone looking for art, please let them know about the new britton.art. I am absolutely open to commissioning a new piece for you based on my past work, or we can go in a totally new direction.

Life is nothing more than an experiment. I like to experiment! If you have any ideas about future art projects or NFT collaborations, please let me know!

I plan to keep the site updated monthly with new drops and artistic endeavors. Where this will take me, no one can predict. Keep an eye on my Instagram: @britton__art for the latest.

Work in progress: Waterfalls

brittonart · November 17, 2021 · Leave a Comment

This was supposed to be a close-up of just water-flowing whites and greys cascading down the canvas. It was to be above our stairs in the tall vertical stretch of wall just right for a 48″x24″ painting.

I did the first layer: long streaks and whispy undulations. Black rock. Ahhhh. There was no love shining back from the canvas. It didn’t feel right. It sat for weeks.

Then one day I got angry and went full abstractoid on the piece, throwing paint here and there, wielding the palette knife like a drunk monkey. That’s the first frame of the animation above. This was better I thought, but it was still such a crappy composition. Elements of the paint were fighting each other for purpose, and all were failing.

I took a long step back, and looked deep into the shapes that had already appeared. I recalled another smaller painting in progress that attempted at realism: it was of a waterfall with lush green around, probably tropical.

My brush started moving, picked up a glob of blue and white and spread that out in the lower part of the painting what appeared to be a blue pool. From there the artwork started coming alive.

I’m still working on it this day. I’m not one of the fast painters who can finish a work in a matter of hours. These things take days, months and years.

Where do you think this one will go?

Starting something new

This is the beginning of something new for me – actually allowing the world to see and digest my artwork.
